Natural, vegan, organic skin care products go a long way towards supporting the health of your skin. However, it’s just part of the formula. Your water intake and the diet you eat play a big role in the health of your skin. Dr. Lawerence Gibson, dermatologist with the Mayo Clinic states that the research on the best foods for healthy skin is limited. Still, antioxidant-rich foods seem to have a protective effect for the skin. He recommends that you consider these skin-friendly foods:
- Carrots, apricots, and other yellow and orange fruits and vegetables
- Spinach and other green leafy vegetables
- Tomatoes
- Blueberries
- Beans, peas and lentils
- Nuts
My all time favorite skin friendly food is avocado. They are high in:
- Fiber
- Potassium (more than twice the amount found in a banana)
- Vitamin E
- B-vitamins
- Folic acid
I’ve got one waiting for me now. A little bit of lemon juice, salt, pepper……rich, creamy and delicious!
